Coffee by the woods

Meet our newest treasure: De Boshut. In the perfect spot, right between the forest and the beach. The kind of place where you just end up staying all afternoon!

Friday 31 October 2025

There are those spots in The Hague where time just slips away, and De Boshut Scheveningen is one of them. You stop by for a good coffee after a walk, and before you know it, you’re digging into a rendang sandwich (highly recommended!) thinking, “Oh well, one more cappuccino then.” De Boshut sits in the ideal location, tucked between the forest and the beach. Perfect for anyone who wants to blow off some steam by the sea or wander through the Scheveningse Bosjes. Afterwards, you can settle in here, cheeks rosy from the wind, pure enjoyment!

Perfect for a Walk

Owner Kirsten (you know, the wife of the owner of John & June’s) has created something truly special here. Just as lovely as the John & June’s coffee house by the Scheveningse Bosjes, but with its own twist. Curious about the difference? Then take a walk from John & June’s (with a coffee to go) through the woods and the Westbroekpark, and end it with a delicious lunch at De Boshut.

Your New Living Room in Scheveningen

De Boshut is the place to go for a great coffee, a cozy lunch, or simply some good vibes. Fresh cakes and pastries, a nice glass of wine in the sun or a delicious sourdough toastie after a walk in the woods. Everything is tasty and the vibe is very relaxed. And honestly, it feels a bit like hanging out at a friend’s place: warm, friendly and full of love. You can tell love and attention went into everything, from the interior to the menu. No pretentious trends here, just good food and a happy, homey atmosphere.

A Compact Menu Full of Quality

Curious about what’s on the menu? In the morning you can grab a tasty breakfast, fresh coffee, yogurt with homemade granola. Later in the day, a delicious lunch menu awaits. Not endless choices, but just enough and all top quality. The bread comes from Bro, the local sourdough hero. So whether you go for a grilled sourdough sandwich, a salmon bun, or those artisanal croquettes (yes, the real kind, crispy outside, creamy inside), you can’t go wrong. And Kirsten’s Indonesian roots? You can taste them. Literally. That rendang sandwich isn’t just any sandwich, it’s a nod to her heritage and quite possibly the best thing on the menu. Soft, spicy, pure comfort food, exactly as comfort food should be.

Evenings Full of Food, Dancing, and Joyful Madness

But De Boshut wouldn’t be De Boshut without their events. Because sitting still? Not really their thing. This past summer, they hosted plenty of amazing nights, like the Greek Abba Night, complete with moussaka, singalongs, waving napkins, and people dancing on tables. Our very own Marijn was there: “The whole place went wild, absolutely fantastic!”
And the good news: from now on, they’ll be doing something fun like this every month. Think theme nights, shared dinners, live music, and (most importantly) tons of good vibes. So: follow De Boshut on social media (trust us, you’ll want to, their Instagram is hilarious) and don’t miss out on any of it.

We’re absolutely thrilled about this new addition, as you can probably tell. Whether you’re stopping by for a cappuccino after your morning walk, a hearty lunch before heading to the beach, or an evening full of laughter and dancing, De Boshut Scheveningen is one of those places you’ll fall in love with instantly.
