Doctor’s advice from Dr. Wines

On the corner of Anna Paulownaplein and Bazarstraat, there has long been a wine bar called Wicked Wines. For years, it was a neighborhood favorite, and it’s easy to see why: we, too, have a soft spot for this cozy little square. Recently, Annick and Hidde-Jurre have breathed new life into the place under the name Dr. Wines. We are delighted to introduce this charming wine bar to you.

Both Annick and Hidde-Jurre know the bar inside out. During their studies at the Hague Hotel School, they gained experience working at Wicked Wines. When the opportunity recently arose to take over the business, they grabbed it with both hands, and we could not be happier about it.

A Fresh Breeze

The fresh energy this young, enterprising duo brings to the bar is evident in everything. The atmosphere is lighter, the interior warmer, there is no stuffy etiquette, and you do not need a huge amount of wine knowledge to enjoy yourself. Hidde-Jurre is more than happy to explain everything and enthusiastically talks at length about every wine he pours for you.

Wine on Prescription

With a large terrace in the trendy Zeeheldenkwartier, young passionate owners, and a menu that commands respect, we dare say this is our favorite wine bar in The Hague. Speaking of wine, with 150 different options on the menu, ranging from 5 euros a glass to 500 euros a bottle, there is something for everyone.

The menu features both French and Asian dishes. Think classic steak tartare or an authentic French cheese platter, but also salmon tataki, sushi, or roasted cauliflower steak. Even more fun are the menus you can order “on prescription,” such as the “Doctor’s Advice”: three wines paired with matching bites. This way, you get to taste a little bit of everything.
