In case you missed it: fall has officially arrived! Think crunchy leaves on the bike paths, trees turning all kinds of red and orange, and that cozy, slightly rainy weather. Honestly? We kinda love it. Autumn has that snug, warm vibe, and there’s no better way to enjoy it than heading out in your own city. Next week it’s fall break in The Hague – the perfect time for some local exploring. Ready for some fun, family-friendly autumn inspiration?
Festival de Betovering – Magical moments for kids
During the fall break, The Hague turns into a cultural playground for kids thanks to Festival De Betovering – an international arts festival full of theatre, dance, film, and workshops. It’s not just for the little ones, either – parents will love it too. One of our favorite spots, Filmhuis Den Haag, is of course one of the festival locations. Don’t wait too long – check out the schedule and grab your tickets!
DIY Pizza Time at BLOW
Until October 25, kids can make their own pizza every day at 5:00 PM at beach hangout BLOW! For €15, they get to play chef with fresh ingredients and enjoy their creations fresh from the oven. Unlimited lemonade included. Meanwhile, you get to chill with a drink at this super relaxed beach bar or go for a breezy walk along the Sand Motor. Win-win, right?
Autumn adventures start at Huna
Fall means walks through wind and weather – on the beach, in the woods, or pedaling through rainy city streets. And you definitely want to be dressed for it. That’s where Huna comes in – The Hague’s ultimate outdoor expert for the past 80 years. From cozy layers to waterproof gear, they’ll make sure you’re warm, dry, and ready for whatever autumn throws your way.
Play & craft at Pluk!
A visit to Pluk is always a good idea – especially in autumn, when nature is at its most beautiful and hot chocolate and homemade pie taste even better. But there’s more!
During the fall break, they’ve got two awesome activities for little adventurers:
Wednesday 10:00–11:30: Outdoor Play Club
Saturday 12:00–13:30: Felt crafting with autumn treasures
Make sure to sign up in advance!
Spooky stories at In de Wolken
Looking for a cozy fall break activity? Nothing beats curling up with a good book. That’s why a visit to In de Wolken, The Hague’s lovely children’s bookstore, is always a good idea. Especially on Saturday, October 25, when things get a little spooky. There’ll be a Creepy Lab out front, and “Malicious Michel” is ready to tell the weirdest, wildest, most spine-tingling stories. Dare to join?
Autumn Surf Camp at Aloha
Cold noses, warm wetsuits, and beautiful waves – that’s what you can expect at the annual Autumn Surf Camp for kids at Aloha Beach! From October 20–24, it’s five days of wave-riding, beach games, new friends and new skills. No surf experience needed – just a swim diploma and lots of enthusiasm. Check if there’s still a spot for your little surfer(s)!
Songwriter Sunday @ Thrive
End your fall break on a super chill note with Songwriter Sunday at Thrive on Sunday, October 26. It’s the third edition already, and the lineup is packed with musical talent, cozy vibes, great company – and of course, the best coffee in town (thanks, Rob!).
Sounds like the perfect way to wrap up an autumn week, don’t you think?
