New: Museum Garden Breakfasts!

“Buitenontbijtjes” (Outdoor Breakfasts) have become a well-known tradition at Haagse Schatten. Every summer, we eagerly look forward to enjoying a delicious breakfast from Aafke in the great outdoors. Unfortunately, we recently had to announce that the summer of 2024 was the last Buitenontbijtjes season as we know them, as Aafke is discontinuing the current format. But don’t be too sad! Because there’s some exciting news:

Luckily for you (and for us), Aafke is incredibly creative and entrepreneurial, and she’s not slowing down! She has long dreamed of creating more spots in The Hague where you can enjoy a breakfast she’s prepared. With cozy seating on location and breakfasts delivered at a set time. Just like with Buitenontbijtjes, all you have to do is hop on your bike and head to a special location in our beautiful city.

And we can now reveal the first result of this: from now on, every Sunday throughout the summer, you can enjoy a peaceful breakfast right in the heart of the city, with a view of the Peace Palace. Start Your Day at Mesdag

The Mesdag Collection? We can almost hear you thinking. While Panorama Mesdag is well-known to every resident of The Hague, the museum with the same name on the Laan van Meerdervoort might not be as familiar. Yet, it’s a fantastic museum with a beautiful art collection by artist Sientje Mesdag-van Houten and her husband, Hendrik Willem Mesdag—the man behind the famous Panorama Mesdag.

The museum is located right in the heart of the city, with a view of the iconic Peace Palace, and it even has a lovely, hidden garden! Pass through the secret doors, pick up your breakfast box at the reception, and find a cozy spot in the garden. Here, you can peacefully enjoy your fresh breakfast while still being in the middle of the city.

Finished your meal? Then it’s time for a bit of cultural nourishment inside the museum. With your breakfast, you get a 25% discount on your entrance ticket, making it just €9.75 to visit The Mesdag Collection.
