A final outdoor treat

Shall we pop outside for a little bit? At our house, this has suddenly become a frequently asked question now that the days are so summery and long. Because all of a sudden, after dinner, there’s still plenty of time (and energy!) for a stroll around town. Soaking up the last rays of sunshine, getting in a bit of movement, and clearing your head—what’s not to love? And recently, this question has taken on a whole new twist. Because Aafke—the creative jack-of-all-trades we know from her Buitenontbijtjes, Museumontbijtjes, and Bij Keuken— just opened the perfect place to stroll to on a summer evening.

Do you have this too? Somehow, no matter how full you are, there’s always room for a little dessert after dinner… Aafke thought so too. That’s why, at the start of this summer, she opened her very own dessert café. For years, she delighted us with her breakfast creations, but now she’s ready to sweeten up our evenings with delicious bakes and wildly creative edible treats.

Dessert Bar

The dessert menu changes weekly, but there’s one constant: the dessert bar, where you can build your own (edible!) bowl of yogurt with toppings of your choice. Think fresh fruit, nuts, granola—or go full-on nostalgic with Smarties and mini marshmallows!

There are also weekly dessert specials: homemade pies, brownies or cakes, cheesecake in a cup, and house-made ice cream. One recommendation? The banana-peanut butter ice cream with a banana chunk—a piece of frozen banana dipped in dark chocolate. I’ve been dreaming about it for days now…

So make sure to leave a little room for something sweet! This summer, Aafke is ready to welcome you every Wednesday through Sunday, from 6 to 10 PM, in her charming little shop on Columbusstraat, in the Regentessekwartier.
