Treasure behind the treasure: Sprinkelhop

In this monthly feature, we spotlight one of our entrepreneurs. If there’s one shop window that always makes us stop and admire the beautiful displays, it’s Sprinkelhop in the Weimarstraat—especially now, with all its Christmas charm. We fired some questions at owner Joke.

If you thought we were good at treasure hunting, you haven’t met Joke yet. Her shop, Sprinkelhop, is a haven of stunning vintage interior pieces. Step inside, and you’ll find yourself in a fairytale world of dazzling lamps, gleaming mirrors, and shiny brass accents.

Especially during this festive, cozy season, Sprinkelhop is a must-visit. Every beautiful item in the store is personally sourced by Joke herself. She’s always on the lookout for the most extraordinary vintage finds and has a real knack for spotting hidden treasures. That sharp eye was honed over years of thrift shopping.

Each treasure is lovingly restored and cleaned by hand before taking pride of place in her gorgeous shop, with its enchanting display window on the Weimarstraat.

What does a day at Sprinkelhop look like during this busy holiday season?

Around Christmas, it’s always wonderful in the store! Every day gifts, candlesticks, and Christmas ornaments fly off the shelves. This also means we restock the shop with new treasures every day. This year is extra special because we’re participating in the Royal Christmas Fair with Haagse Schatten. Our own store on Weimarstraat will be open extra hours throughout December, from Tuesday to Sunday, starting at 12 PM. We’re also looking forward to December 14th, when we’ll have a booth full of vintage gifts during the Winter Market in the street.

Do you have any dreams/wishes/resolutions for next year?

Next year, we’ll keep trying to open the store on Wednesdays! And beyond that, we hope that our team will have just as wonderful a year in 2025 as we had this year.

At Sushimeisjes! They serve the best sushi in The Hague and beyond. I highly recommend the Green King roll!
