Sometimes it’s not at all crazy to stay at home in our own beautiful The Hague. All the cozy shops, cafes, and restaurants in the city center, Zeeheldenkwartier, and beyond, the numerous activities and events organized. And let’s not forget the beach with all the beach clubs. And if you want to feel like you’re really abroad for a moment? Then we recommend Le Marie Marché! A lovely French market that tours around the city every summer.
Le Marie Marché embodies exactly what we envision with Haagse Schatten. You experience, taste, and savor the best of local The Hague (okay, and in this case, a bit of France too). With a fresh crêpe and a glass of cider in hand, you stroll past over fifty cozy stalls featuring handmade products, art, French delicacies, and food trucks run by passionate entrepreneurs. And of course, there’s live music in the background for an extra touch of French ambiance. With idyllic locations like Lange Vijverberg (along the Hofvijver), this market is typically Haguean and French at the same time.
Where and when? Où et quand?
Once April arrives and the birds start singing, and the sun shows its face again, you’ll find this delightful French market every first weekend of the month from 11 am to 5 pm in the heart of The Hague. Besides Lange Vijverberg, the market visits the most beautiful spots in the city. Check the website and social media for precise where’s en when’s.
In 2024, the schedule for the upcoming months is as follows:
April 6th & 7th: Lange Vijverberg
May 18th, 19th, 20th: Lange Vijverberg
May 26th: Reinkenstraat
June 1st & 2nd: Lange Vijverberg
June 22nd: Regentesseplein
June 30th: Prinsestraat
An exceptional treasure
Unfortunately, it’s not possible to redeem your Haagse Schatten gift card at the market. This is because the vendors at this market often change, and they are individual local entrepreneurs. However, because we consider Le Marie Marché as a whole to be an absolute The Hague treasure, we’ve made an exception for them and feature them on our website and social media. So, while they are indeed a The Hague treasure, they are not a redemption point for the gift voucher. Fortunately, just around the corner from the market, in the center of The Hague, there are plenty of The Hague treasures where you can redeem your voucher!
