Everything here is just right thanks to the two enthusiastic owners. Childhood friends Teun and Tom run the show. One is a sommelier and host, the other a chef. It turns out they make a top duo. After a few years in a cozy little spot not far from the current location, they moved to this more spacious venue in 2023. And even here, it’s cozy, thanks to the warm atmosphere with the large bar in the middle of the space and the warm welcome from host Tom. Chef Teun and his team cook up delicious dishes.

Bistro Veen is the kind of place where you never check the time, simply because you’re fully in the moment. Enjoying good wine, tasty bites, and conversations that flow naturally. A place where you instantly feel at home. Somewhere you linger after work on a Friday, crave for a great lunch on a Wednesday, or book a tasting with a group of friends on a Saturday. A spot that makes The Hague just a little bit nicer. A real The Hague treasure, in other words.

What makes Bistro Veen extra special is the following feature: right outside, in the waters of the Veenkade, you’ll find an actual boat. A borrel boat, you could say. Here, you can spend the entire afternoon soaking up the sun, gently drifting along with a glass of wine in hand and a delicious bite on the table, right on a The Hague canal. We already know where we’ll be settling down for our next get-together when the first rays of sunshine appear. And when it gets a bit cooler? You can just as easily move inside to continue the experience with delicious dishes and perfectly paired wines.

Bistro Veen is open every(!) day from 12 to 10 for lunch and dinner.
