Have you ever heard someone say “those are selling like hotcakes”? There’s a good chance this saying originated at Bakkerij Victor Driessen in The Hague’s Vogelwijk. Because here, the delicious treats fly out of the bakery, and the hotcakes literally go over the counter. From the other end of the street, you can already smell the fresh baked goods, and you know: with Victor, you’re in for a treat.

Victor Driessen is more than just a sandwich shop. It’s more like a candy store. In addition to a bread of the week (which is always lactose- and additive-free), you’ll also find the most delicious muffins, cookies (from The Hague Cookie Girls), cheese sticks, (whole wheat) croissants, sausage rolls, and much, much more…

What’s even more fun is that they get into the spirit of the seasons and holidays. The shop windows, displays, and products are continually dressed up and adjusted. A feast for the eyes and the taste buds! At Victor’s, you don’t just pick up your daily bread, but also oliebollen (Dutch doughnuts eaten during New Years), Sinterklaas’ pepernoten, Easter eggs, orange tompoucen (a famous Dutch pastry for Kingsday), and all the accompanying treats for the holidays in between.

The mobile baker

Have you spotted Vikkie yet? Bakery Victor Driessen has two very cute mobile, fully electric bread carts driving around. Just like in the old days, the baker comes to you.
