Bakkerij Victor Driessen
The shop of family business Victor Driessen at Mezenplein in The Hague looks like a candy store. So many different kinds of bread and other treats. All the bread is lactose-free and contains no additives or added sugars and fats, just pure as bread should be! And that’s been the case for four generations now.
The bread pharmacist
Victor is an expert who experiments with all kinds of flour and grains to make the perfect bread. It’s no wonder he’s called the ‘bread pharmacist.’ With love, all products are baked every night for us by these bakers. By the way, you not only can you find (more than fifty different kinds of!) bread in the shop on Mezenlaan. They also have the most delicious muffins, cookies (including those from De Haagsche Koekmeisjes), (whole wheat) croissants, cheese sticks, and so on…
Here’s another excuse to cycle by Victor often: every season, it’s a feast for the eyes and taste buds here. The shop windows, showcases, and products are all decorated thematically and beautifully. From Sinterklaas to Easter and from autumn to Christmas, every occasion is seized for a fun and festively decorated bakery.
Vikkie on tour!
And you know what’s even more fun? The bakery also has two mobile, fully electric bread carts, named ‘Vikkie,’ driving around. They roam through The Hague’s neighborhoods, along the beaches, offices, high schools, nursing homes, and many other locations! Here you can see where you can find Vikkie during weekdays. Wij houden ervan: van die ondernemers die niet stil kunnen zitten. En daar hebben we er weer twee van gevonden: Udo en Lisanne. Zij openden Eetwinkel Vork op de Fahrenheitstraat en brengen niet alleen heerlijk eten, maar ook een bak energie en enthousiasme mee.
Dit doorgewinterde horeca-stel loopt al een tijdje mee en hield jarenlang verschillende restaurants door het hele land draaiende. En omdat ze wel houden van lekker veel hooi op hun vork (snap je ;)) , besloten ze hun droom waar te maken en hun eigen eetwinkel te beginnen.
Het menu van Eetwinkel Vork wisselt wekelijks. Udo en Lisanne kiezen op de bank thuis zorgvuldig uit wat ze die week gaan bereiden. Udo, een ervaren chef, staat garant voor maaltijden van topkwaliteit. Lisanne zorgt dan weer voor de verrukkelijke zelfgebakken taarten. Het resultaat? Een vitrine vol heerlijke opties om mee te nemen, plus een klein zitje voor wie ter plekke wil genieten.
Achter in de eetwinkel vind je een grote en gezellige keuken waar chef Udo workshops geeft. Of je nu je kookvaardigheden wilt verbeteren of gewoon een leuke middag wilt beleven, er is voor ieder wat wils. Workshops vinden standaard eens per week plaats en zijn ook privรฉ te boeken. Perfect voor een verjaardagsfeestje, een teamuitje, of een andere speciale gelegenheid.
