From lockdown baker to Bro

What a coronalockdown can bring… and in this case, something good. During that lockdown, Alexander took up baking. And started working with a sourdough starter. After plenty of experimenting and spending a few days learning the ropes at The Hague bakery Pompernikkel, he finally dared to let friends taste his homemade bread.

When his good friend Bas tried it, he was immediately convinced. The two saw a gap in the market and decided to continue baking bread, this time on a bigger scale. Alex took care of the baking, while Bas focused on the business side of things.

And it works. After first supplying bread to several local eateries, you can now find Brood van Bro on a charming square on Wagenstraat. A huge gain for the city and for our little club of The Hague treasures.
