Rechtstreex

At Haagse Schatten, we are big fans of supporting local businesses, which makes us especially thrilled to introduce yet another fantastic local entrepreneur with delicious local offerings as a The Hague treasure. And this one is a place you can frequent quite often… Let us introduce you to Rechtstreex: a shop for your daily groceries featuring fresh and tasty products from our own Hague region!

Deliciously local

At Rechtstreex, they make every effort to make a short food chain with regional food accessible. With fair prices for everyone, no waste, and access to food produced with care by local farmers and makers. Vegetables, fruits, butter, cheese, and eggs… they have it all. You’ll also find chocolate from our friends at the Haagsche Cacaofabriek, granola from Yespers (coincidentally, our Haagse Schatten HQ’s neighbors), and cheese from Fervena, a local Hague cheesemaker who crafts the tastiest and healthiest plant-based dairy alternatives. We’re curious to try that vegan brie!

The Dutch kiwi

You might not believe it, but even the kiwis at Rechtstreex are local. Although Rechtstreex suppliers are generally located within a fifty-kilometer radius, a small exception was made for these Dutch kiwis. Kiwifarm Nieuw Slagmaat is located in Bunnik. They brought the kiwi plants from Italy themselves years ago. Now that the plants are a bit older, and the farmers are much wiser, the winter kiwi harvest is thriving, even producing delicious jam and (yes, it exists!) kiwi wine throughout the year.

Rechtstreex Weimar lokale supermarkt duurzaam den haag

You can easily order online from the wide range of products (or opt for the convenience of a package), and the wonderful folks at Rechtstreex will have your local favorites ready for pickup at a collection point in your neighborhood. In The Hague (and even beyond), there are several pickup points, from Vogelwijk to Bezuidenhout, where the neighborhood chefs will welcome you and provide you with a delightful package of fresh food. Or, have the groceries delivered to your home. That’s an option too!

Just want to head out and see what’s on offer for tonight’s dinner? The Rechtstreex store on Weimarstraat is open four days a week: Wednesday to Friday from 12:00 to 18:00 and on Saturday from 10:00 to 17:00.

Curious about the assortment of this coolest and most local supermarket in The Hague? Hop on your bike to Weimar. And don’t forget your Haagse Schatten gift card, because it’s accepted here as payment! Consider giving it as a gift to someone who also loves locally sourced goodies.
