At beach pole 9, on our favorite Strand Zuid, you’ll find one of the oldest beach pavilions on the Hague’s coast. A place where historical coziness and contemporary hospitality come together: meet our newest treasure, De Kwartel!

Here, you can truly enjoy dining by the sea. De Kwartel can undoubtedly be called a true beachfront restaurant. The menu offers something for everyone: meat, fish, as well as vegetarian and vegan dishes, and lactose or gluten-free options. Owners Sabrina and Wilfred believe that everyone should be able to sit down for an equal meal here. So, everything is on the menu, and no one is the “annoying table with difficult requests” anymore.

From early morning till late evening

And it’s not just for dinner that we head to pole 9. De Kwartel is open for breakfast from early morning. Will you go for the vegan crepes with fresh fruit or perhaps a festive mimosa? Stick around for lunch, and linger a bit longer for drinks… nachos, charcuterie, oysters. The choice is huge. If you still have room after eating, we recommend the cheese platter with a glass of port. Delicious! Just like being on vacation on our own beach!

Fish needs to swim

And all that delicious food must, of course, be washed down. What luck that the wine list at De Kwartel is also fantastic. Here you’ll find the most extensive wine selection along the entire coast. Keep an eye on their social media because they occasionally organize wine tastings or Bring Your Own Bottle nights! And you’ll want to be there.
