The Hague is brimming with hidden treasures: unique spots, trendy shops, restaurants, and other creative ventures. At Haagse Schatten, we’ve rounded up our favorite hotspots just for you. From quirky coffee spots with a dash of humor to shopping destinations where you can lose yourself for hours — these are the fifteen must-visit places in The Hague!

Hot
We’re kicking off our list with a few seriously hot spots.
Amilda Wellness Boutique
There are massage salons, beauty salons, a long gap… and then there’s Amilda Wellness Boutique. The moment you step through the door, all your stress instantly melts away. You’ll wonder why you didn’t visit sooner and secretly wish you could stay forever.
Unwind on one of their massage tables or indulge in a soothing facial. Extra fun (and hot!) is their steam cabin. Blow off some steam or warm up this winter — either way, you’ll be hooked. One visit won’t be your last.
Roast Factory
At this ‘Specialty Coffee Bar,’ you’re guaranteed a top-notch warm Haags bakkie pleur (local slang for coffee). But not just any coffee. Specialty Coffee stands for high-quality beans that are carefully grown, roasted, and brewed.
Stefan, the mastermind behind Roast Factory, travels the world to find the perfect coffee beans, which he then roasts to perfection using his authentic coffee roaster.
The location itself is steeped in history — since 1920, it housed Reuser & Smulders, a well-known coffee, tea, and tobacco trader. Locals are thrilled that the aroma of fresh coffee once again fills the air. And so are we!
Hug the Tea
Prefer a steaming hot cup of matcha? Head to the Hofkwartier. The moment you step into Hug the Tea, you’ll see that these women aren’t just matcha enthusiasts — they’re true experts.
They can tell you all about the different types of teas, traditional tea ceremonies, and the origins of their blends.
Of course, you can also simply enjoy delicious (Matcha) drinks or buy some premium Japanese teas for yourself or as a gift. Be sure to follow their social media channels — they regularly host tea tastings and special dinners.

Spot
You guessed it: The Hague’s unique ‘spots’ can’t be left out. Below are four creative and inspiring places, each distinguished by their unique approach, atmosphere, and location.
Zelfspot
The ‘living room of Scheveningen’ where everything revolves around connection — and great coffee. Coffee as a unifying factor, whether it’s to kickstart your day, spark a spontaneous conversation, or wind down after an inspiring session.
In the back of the space, there’s a peaceful and spacious studio where various sessions, courses, and workshops are held, from yoga to spoken word. The common thread? Connection, personal development, and depth. It might sound a bit abstract, but the vibe here is anything but that. After all, the place is called De Zelfspot (Self-Spot) for a reason!
The studio is also available to rent for your own ideas, team sessions, or training events. Just get in touch with De Zelfspot for more info!
Haags Hoog
A high-up spot with a stunning view. Haags Hoog combines a tasting room, a conservatory, and a greenhouse in an industrial space on Televisiestraat. You’ll find this high-flying hotspot on the top floor of The New Farm, near Den Haag Moerwijk station.
What makes Haags Hoog so special? Besides the breathtaking view of the city, it’s the collaboration between three local entrepreneurs who, in turn, work closely with other Haagse creatives. And we at Haagse Schatten love a bit of teamwork!
Haags Hoog hosts events of all kinds — from pop-up dinners to clothing swaps, live music to pub quizzes. Want to organize your own event or party? It’s possible too. Stay in the loop by following their socials!
Wrkshop
The Hague may come across as a chic city, with landmarks like the Binnenhof, renowned museums like the Mauritshuis and Kunstmuseum, and stately embassy buildings. But the city also keeps reinventing itself with cool initiatives. One of those hidden gems can be found just outside the city limits.
Sometimes you stumble upon a place that immediately sparks inspiration, making you want to stay all day. That’s exactly how we felt when we spontaneously walked into Wrkshop on a sunny morning — a creative co-working space just outside The Hague.
But there’s more than just co-working happening here: they have a Running Crew, host workshops, rent out the space for events, and on Saturdays, they bake and sell the most delicious sourdough bread!
Will & Tate City Stay
Planning a weekend in The Hague? This is the place to stay! A buzzing and stylish hostel-meets-hotel right in the city center. True to Haagse Schatten style, you’ll get more than just a place to sleep. With its unique design, welcoming team, and fantastic atmosphere, you’ll feel right at home — as if you’ve found your own little spot in The Hague.
And it’s in a prime location! From Will & Tate, you can walk straight onto the bustling Grote Markt and immerse yourself in our beautiful city behind the dunes.
Even if you’re not staying overnight, you’re welcome at Will & Tate. The cozy lobby is perfect for relaxing with a coffee or getting some work done on your laptop. Occasionally, they turn up the volume with a concert or DJ set. Keep an eye on their socials for upcoming events!

Shophotspots
A bit of a mouthful, but here are the coolest shopping hotspots in The Hague.
Kali Tengah
A shop filled with coffee and tea — that’s Kali Tengah on Weimarstraat. The passion is palpable the moment you step through the door. Passion for fine products, with more than 90 types of tea, specialty coffee, and quality chocolate. Perfect for shopping treats to enjoy at home.
Want to learn more about coffee or tea or master the art of brewing? Kali Tengah frequently hosts tastings and workshops. Keep an eye on their socials for updates!
Studio Limonada
Stepping into the shop-meets-studio of Studio Limonada feels like a burst of joy. Colorful, cheerful lamps are everywhere! Here, you can shop for unique handmade lamps in vibrant colors and luxurious fabrics. Brighten up your home — and your mood — just by stepping inside.
Sometimes you just need a little extra light in your life. And even better if it’s a unique handmade lamp from Studio Limonada. Mix and match your perfect cheerful creation!
CrazyHorseRecordstore
In the beautiful historic building at Prinsegracht 8, you’ll find GR8, a buzzing cultural hub. On the lower floors lies one of The Hague’s hidden gems: CrazyHorseRecordstore. Two floors packed with vinyl, CDs, vintage treasures, and more!
This is the place for golden oldies, rare finds, and artists you’ve never heard of. But also for the latest records and big names. With a rotating weekly selection, there’s always a chance of uncovering a new gem.

Finger-Licking Hotspots
Here are some delectable spots in The Hague where you’re guaranteed to satisfy your cravings.
Sam Sam
The main reason we’re huge fans of Sam Sam on Noordeinde? They serve half sandwiches! Yes, you read that right — half sandwiches. This means you don’t have to agonize over picking just one; you can enjoy two halves with your favorite toppings.
No fuss, just good food. Generously filled sandwiches, fresh juices, and great coffee. It’s a peaceful little spot, with our favorite seat right by the window — perfect for people-watching as they stroll along Noordeinde.
Eetwinkel Vork
Pick up fresh meals, sandwiches, or a homemade treat, and sharpen your culinary skills with a workshop in the studio at the back. The weekly changing menu and scrumptious home-baked cakes result in a display case full of tempting options to take home — or enjoy on-site at the cozy seating area.
Loft
We often find ourselves settling in with our laptops at Loft, housed in the old Jeruzalemkerk at Pomonaplein in the Vruchtenbuurt. What a unique place this is!
The space radiates calm and openness, with stunning light streaming through the beautiful stained glass windows. It’s a spot where time slips away as you savor honest, lovingly prepared food. A true Hague hotspot.
Bistro Le Petit Chef
A genuine Parisian bistro right on the edge of The Hague! Bistro Le Petit Chef in Oud Rijswijk is a place where the entire neighborhood comes together. Whether it’s for coffee and a croissant in the morning, a French lunch (with wine!), or a candlelit dinner — they’ve got you covered.
And the best part? They’re open seven days a week, from morning to night. We’d happily visit every day.
Baardman
We’ll give you one reason to cycle over to Theresiastraat: Baardman. A gem for anyone who, like us, loves incredible food. Your plate here is guaranteed to be a party for your taste buds!
With a passionate team dedicated to good food and hospitality, a peek-through kitchen (which we love!), and a sunny terrace out front, Baardman ticks all the boxes. Plus, it’s the perfect spot if you’re coming to The Hague by train and want to escape the city bustle.
Whether you’re a food lover, culture enthusiast, or shopping fanatic, The Hague has something for everyone. Let yourself be surprised by this charming city full of hidden treasures, and enjoy everything the “beautiful city behind the dunes” has to offer.
