January at Haagse Schatten: you don’t want to miss this
Recovered from the holidays? Good, because January is packed with things to do in The Hague. Our local treasures don’t know how to stop, so the agenda is full of fun events. From craft afternoons to free concerts, children’s discos to breathwork circles… there’s something for everyone! Here’s a roundup of our favorite activities, specials, and events for January.
January
- On Saturday, January 3, it’s going to be a big party at the ice rink on Kastanjeplein! Bennies Playcare is hosting a children’s disco here. From 4 PM, kids and parents can dance, jump, skate, and have fun. It’s completely free, and you can even make requests to the DJ!
- Looking for a new creative hobby in the new year? And maybe meet some new people? That’s easy at the Make & Mingle workshops by Always Summer. On January 3, 17, and 31, join in and create your own jewelry in great company.
- Did someone say sale? We’re highlighting the sales at two of our favorite stores. From January 6, grab the most beautiful and fun books at a discount at In de Wolken. At littleYou, there’s a big sale too: 50% off winter clothing.
- On January 9, take a seat in the Breathwork Circle at Helder Yoga. Denise and Rachel will guide you through the evening.
- What will you focus on this year? On January 10, visualize it during a Vision Board workshop at De Kust.
- On Wednesday, January 14, from 7 to 9 PM, the creative Sientje will teach you how to crochet! Always wanted to crochet but didn’t know where to start? At Atelier Sientje, learn to set up your own crochet projects, discover different stitches, complete small projects, and leave with the confidence and enthusiasm to continue at home.
- On the evening of January 15, something special is happening at Hug The Tea: a Tea Tasting. Taste five Japanese teas (including Matcha!) paired with matching bites.
- Feeling competitive? January 17 is Board Game Saturday at Thrive Coffee House. Roll up your sleeves and take on the challenge!
- The interactive and much-talked-about film quiz Dial Q takes place on January 18 at Het Filmhuis. Gather your team and join in!
- On January 22, Hug The Tea is hosting a Japanese Dinner: three delicious courses paired with their own Japanese teas.
- A two-day workshop, From Print to Artwork, takes place on January 23 and 30 at De Kust. The first evening, create your own gelli prints; the second, turn them into colorful artworks.
- Another fun two-day workshop at De Zelfspot: discover the magic of sourdough on January 24 and 31.
- From January 24 to 31, catch the best documentaries from the latest IDFA edition during Best of IDFA on Tour 2026 at Het Filmhuis.
- Fancy a coffee, breakfast, and live classical music in the background? On January 25, head to Thrive for Bach & Breakfast.
- On Sunday, January 25, join the Dutch Language Café to help bake cookies while practicing your Dutch or assisting others in improving theirs.
- On Wednesday, January 28, it’s Tasting Wednesday at Proefboutique, one of our favorite spots for drinks and snacks in The Hague. Each month features a different theme.
- Another great workshop: make your own Mochi at Hug The Tea on January 29. These Japan experts know what’s good. At the end of the workshop, take home four Daifuku Mochi, and enjoy delicious Japanese teas throughout the evening.
- On January 31, get crafty at Crafternoon at Thrive.
- Also on January 31, there’s a cool In-Store Concert at The CrazyHorse Recordstore. Tom Bruins will play his album, and you can listen for free.
There are also plenty of weekly recurring activities to add to your agenda:
