Time for a new hobby! How about tufting or cyanotype?

Because honestly: how fun is it to try something completely new? At MAAK., you can get hands-on with wool and a tufting gun or experiment with sunlight and printing techniques. How exactly? We’ll give you a quick introduction in this blog.
Tufting: shooting with yarn
An unusual name for an equally unusual technique and result. With tufting, you use a special tufting needle or tufting gun to punch yarn through fabric and create a soft tapestry or rug.
The best part? You don’t need to be a textile artist to get started. After a short introduction, you’ll quickly be experimenting with colours, shapes and patterns. And while it takes a little practice, tufting turns out to be surprisingly addictive.
Cyanotype: photo print with sunlight
Cyanotype may sound complicated too, but the principle is surprisingly simple. This old photographic technique uses sunlight to create deep blue prints. Magical!
You apply a special solution to paper or fabric, place flowers, leaves or an image on top, and let the sun do the work. After rinsing it with water, a vivid blue print slowly appears. A kind of blueprint of your chosen object. The result is beautifully unexpected, and no two prints are ever the same.
