While I’m writing this blog, I look outside and it’s truly autumn weather. The rain drizzles down, and I think, ‘I fancy something delicious.’ A delightful cup of coffee with an even more delicious piece of cake. So, let’s go out! Snuggle up at one of our The Hague treasures for a slice of cake! Whatever you choose, at our treasures, there’s something delicious for everyone. Here’s a list of our favorites, of course, in entirely random order.
Foam Breakfast and Lunch
Foam is a fantastic place where, besides breakfast and lunch, you can also enjoy good organic coffee and healthy (and slightly less healthy) vegan cakes. Whether you’re just popping in for your cake, having a cozy lunch with a friend, or spending an hour working, you’re always more than welcome! My recommendation from Foam? The incredibly delicious, moist salted brownie!
Café Loft
For the residents of the Vruchtenbuurt, this place is probably no secret anymore. Café Loft, in an old church, is truly a gem. Besides breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you can, of course, also enjoy a hot drink with a tasty cake. After all, that’s what we’re here for ;-). The choice is huge and especially innovative! Are you going for a goat cheese cheesecake with walnuts and blueberries? Or for a chocolate cake with Amaretti cookies, white and dark chocolate? Or perhaps tiramisu or a hearty apple pie? You can also be surprised with the cake of the week.
Hug the Tea
You’ll find even more enticing treats at Hug The Tea. Delicacies infused with matcha. The green power powder that has blown over from Japan. Sisters Claire and Lisa create the most delicious things with it. Matcha pancakes, waffles, bliss balls, sponge cakes, brownie-blondies, apple crumble pie, cheesecakes. Too many to mention. I would say, stop by and try them all! There’s a tasty Matcha option for everyone and a table full of goodies. Truly a must-visit!
Bakery Victor Driessen
It’s only natural that at Bakery Victor Driessen, alongside artisanal fresh bread, you also take home a delicious pastry. The counter is filled with tasty bakes, begging to be taken home. The lemon tart is my favorite… or maybe the apple pie. You can tell, all the pastries are finger-licking good.
Pompke
Homemade cakes and cookies, along with lovingly brewed cups of coffee to go with them. Everything freshly prepared in the small kitchen of this adorable little building on Pompstationsweg. At Pompke, attention to food and to their guests is central, and you simply taste and feel it. After placing your order at ‘the hatch,’ you stroll with your crate filled with goodies to a spot on the terrace.
You can, of course, get all these delicious cakes and sweets with our Haagse Schatten gift card. Do you know a sweet tooth or cookie monster who’s celebrating soon? Then give them such a voucher! You can go on a Tour de Cake through The Hague together.
