Hāāmī

At Kookaburra Beach on Zuiderstrand, you’ll find a cosy corner filled with the unique products of Hāāmī. Beautiful kimonos, jewellery, bags, skincare products and stylish home accessories, each one carefully handcrafted by women in Nepal.

Women on a mission

Hāāmī means ‘we’ in Nepali. A name that perfectly reflects the vision of founders Gita and Debbie. They believe in a world where every woman has the opportunity to become economically independent and self-reliant. Together, they are building a brighter future with and for strong women. Through fair employment opportunities, education and sustainable projects, they empower Nepali women to forge their own path towards financial independence and a future full of possibilities.

And every Hāāmī purchase makes a real difference. So when you treat yourself to something beautiful, you’re also helping create opportunities for someone else.

Beautiful products

Every Hāāmī product has its own story and is lovingly handcrafted by women in Nepal. Here’s a glimpse of the collection:

  • Natural soaps are made at Hāāmī Shakti Soaps, Hāāmī’s own soap studio in Chitwan, run by seven women. The studio provides sustainable employment and empowers local women through meaningful work.
  • Blankets and scarves are handcrafted by Trikaya, a social enterprise founded in 1986 that employs 30 women. Each piece is handwoven from a blend of sheep’s wool and acrylic.
  • Table linen is handmade from sustainably produced Nepali cotton by Cotton Mill, a company that has been operating in Nepal since 2011 and employs 40 women.
  • Kimonos are created by Loops & Looms using upcycled saris. The workshop employs six women, giving new life to beautiful traditional fabrics.
  • Cushion covers are made by Muskan Enterprises, where a small team of skilled seamstresses carefully crafts each item.
  • Handmade paper notebooks are produced by Get Paper Industry, which provides employment for more than 60 women. The company transforms waste materials (including cotton rags, discarded paper and agricultural by-products such as banana fibres) into beautiful handcrafted paper products.
