Special Programming

At Filmhuis, there’s plenty to see! In addition to the regular programming and accompanying events for many screenings, there are often special events at Filmhuis. This ranges from film screenings with Q&A sessions to entire film festivals. Educational programs and talent development are also highly valued here, providing a platform for young filmmakers from The Hague. What really gets our hearts racing is the large white screen that is sometimes set up outdoors in the summer. A balmy summer evening at the outdoor cinema… Now, isn’t that a dream?

Boutique cinema

In addition to its five lovely regular theaters, Filmhuis also boasts a delightful special film theater. Theater 6 is a true boutique cinema! With cozy chairs, poufs, benches, and cushions, you’ll feel even snugger here. It almost feels like home. Although, of course, the sound and picture quality are ten times better than from your own couch.

More Than Just a White Screen

When you step into the Filmhuis at any random moment, you’ll quickly realize it’s much more than just a place to watch a film. It’s a hub where people come together. A place where freelancers prepare for their next meeting and then linger after the film. By the way, they also offer delicious, affordable theater menus in the restaurant, so you can grab a bite before the movie starts.

Interested in film and film history? Then you must take a look at the film library, which is also housed here. Thousands of books, a vast collection of magazines, thousands of reviews from 1935 to the present, and hundreds of folders with clippings and photos are stored here. Please note! The library is open by appointment only, and materials cannot be borrowed.
