Vegane Glorie is a true The Hague treasure, and the brilliant name alone makes it worth a visit. This neighborhood café exudes warmth and creativity, making you feel instantly welcome. Owners Rob and Juul collaborate with local wine merchant Henry II and even run a plant sanctuary for the whole neighborhood. They certainly have green thumbs here!

On weekends, you can enjoy a delicious lunch from 12:00 to 16:00. Whether you’re coming in after a surf session in Scheveningen or a shopping spree on the Fred, this cozy and sunny terrace is the perfect spot to relax.

Z’AHA deli

Owner Justine has a clear mission: to let people experience, through her passion for food, that plant-based eating is incredibly tasty and anything but dull and boring. Z’AHA deli is the only ‘vegan-friendly take-away’ (yes, quite a mouthful) that The Hague has to offer, as far as we know. Glass display cases filled with colorful and delicious treats—salads, sandwiches, and the most delightful sweets. All vegan. All delicious. And honest.

So, grab a tasty container here, strap it to your bike rack, and head off. The great thing is: Z’AHA deli is just a stone’s throw away from the beach, so cycle through the dunes and enjoy a delicious vegan lunch with the best view you can imagine.

FOAM ontbijt en lunch

Going out for breakfast or lunch can sometimes be even more fun than dining out. So, if you’re near Frederikstraat, we highly recommend parking your bike and taking a little break at FOAM—the place to be for a fully vegan menu.

Plant-based. Fresh. Colorful. And incredibly tasty. Add to that the relaxed atmosphere and the lovely little garden behind this breakfast and lunch spot, and you’ve got a place that’s definitely worth discovering. Be surprised by the changing dishes on the menu, juices with fun names, and cakes that are finger-licking good.

De Sushimeisjes

Vegan sushi? Absolutely! At Sushimeisjes, the plant-based options are endless. Order a vegan sushi box, individual veggie rolls, or delicious side dishes. Lisa and Nicole, the cheerful ladies from The Hague behind Sushimeisjes, share a great passion for sushi—and you can taste it! In our opinion, it’s the best sushi in The Hague.

You can enjoy their sushi at two locations: Prins Hendrikstraat 96 & Valkenboskade 622. Both spots have a cozy interior and a nice terrace, perfect for enjoying your sushi outside if the weather allows.

Bistro LOFT

The reason why many residents of Vruchtenbuurt and beyond regularly go to church: Café Loft. This charming neighborhood restaurant, located in the old Jerusalem church, offers plenty of vegan options on the menu.

How about a vegan burger or pizza? With vegan cheese! Pad Thai with plant-based chicken. And vegan carrot cake for dessert. Our mouths are watering just thinking about it. Plus, it’s a lovely spot to sit in the church garden or indoors next to the tall, colorful church windows. Head over to Pomonaplein!

Vegetarian cheating

To shake things up, we’re rounding out this list of five vegan restaurants with five The Hague treasures where you can enjoy delicious vegetarian dishes. Not entirely vegan, but still…

BLOW Beach House

Cycle a bit further towards Kijkduin, and you’ll find quite a spot! BLOW is a beach club for water sports enthusiasts, sun worshippers, beach walkers, and sea admirers—and everyone in between.

On the menu: a delicious green salad with zucchini, peas, mint, burrata, and yuzu, or pointed cabbage with charred leeks, chive oil, lentils, and dashi.

Tommy’s en Zuurveen

The amazing 3, 4, or 5-course chef’s menu at Tommy’s and Zuurveen is also available in a vegetarian version. Enjoy it in the cozy, intimate restaurant or on the drinks boat moored outside on the canal.

Think of tomato tartare with miso or crispy broad beans with smoked almonds. Simply delicious!

Baardman

Have you discovered this hidden gem on Theresiastraat yet? Baardman is perfect for an extensive lunch or dinner. Our vegetarian favorite? Eggplant with chickpeas, spicy yogurt, and tomatoes or an always satisfying pasta!

Bart and his team will spoil you, and you’ll roll home with a well-filled stomach.

Ethica

On the lively Dunne Bierkade in the old center of The Hague, you’ll find Ethica. A restaurant where local, homemade, and sustainable are the key values. They serve a lot of food from their own garden, supplemented with local products.

A fan of shared dining? Then Little Miss Sangria is the place for you and your dining companions! It’s hard to choose between all the delicious dishes, many of which are vegetarian. And don’t forget to order the homemade sangria! Everyone loves that, right? Vegan, vegetarian, or not.

A few of our favorite tapas are the bimi with red mojo, spiced chestnut mushroom croquettes, spinach-cheese cumin croquettes with tzatziki, and the classic pimientos de padrón with coarse sea salt. Sharing is caring!
