Treasure behind the treasure: Achtung! Lady

In this monthly feature, we shine a spotlight on one of our local entrepreneurs. This time, we’re stepping into Achtung! Lady, risking our wallets in the process. This lovely boutique on the lively Prins Hendrikstraat is all about premium second hand women’s clothing. And they’re already fully stocked and ready for the upcoming autumn and winter season. How was your summer?

I recently moved to the heart of The Hague and I absolutely love it! The Oude Mol, Paleistuin… Hofkwartier neighbourhood feels a bit like a village within the city. From there, I walk towards the Zeeheldenkwartier and my shop as the city slowly wakes up. With the lovely weather we’ve had this summer, I certainly can’t complain.

Do you have a favourite place in The Hague to go for inspiration or relaxation?

My dog Baloe is an early riser and a great excuse to get out and about. So, most mornings I take a lovely walk through the woods. The Hague has so many green spaces! And being able to end the day at the beach is the ultimate luxury, of course.

While walking, I also happened to spend quite a bit of time thinking about the future of Achtung! Lady this summer. We’ve been around for five years now, and I felt it was time for a little change. So, from September onwards, we’re introducing something new that will bring a fresh energy to the shop.

Tell us more!

Under the motto “Good style doesn’t need a label”, you can now bring in not only your beautiful designer pieces, but also carefully selected Zara, Mango, H&M, vintage and other fashion finds. Of course, the brands we’ve always focused on, such as Sézane, Selected Femme and Zadig & Voltaire, are still very welcome. But we’re going to look more at the bigger picture: style, appearance and quality, while of course keeping sustainability at the heart of what we do.

After all, these pieces deserve a second life with a lovely new owner. We’d love to inspire even more people to shop second hand, help a new generation take that first step, and become known to an even wider audience as the boutique for fabulous second hand finds.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve already taken in lots of beautiful pieces. Achtung! is once again packed with a gorgeous second hand fall/winter collection. So come and shop with us this September!
