Where to be?
Zeeheldenkwartier
At the Anna Paulownaplein, you’re definitely in the right place for Kingsday. From around noon until 8pm, four local spots on this lively square will be flying the red-white-blue flag while a DJ spins feel-good vinyl. The Hague treasure Dr. Wines joins the party too, serving sushi and (of course) excellent wine.
Regentessekwartier
For the first time, the Weimarstraat turns orange. Expect a great flea market, a buzzing atmosphere, and plenty of food and drinks from local entrepreneurs around the Regentesseplein.
City centre
The Grote Markt is almost always buzzing, but on April 27 it’s next level. From about noon, celebrate the best birthday party of the year under the canopy of De Zwarte Ruiter, with Chachachalina, Ragmob and Allerluidst on the lineup. For a good beer, head to local treasure Nationaal.
Buiten de stadsgrenzen
Just outside The Hague, in Oud Rijswijk, they know how to throw a proper King’s Day celebration. During “Fête du Roi,” dance to DJs Steve Verm and Captain Midnight, try your luck at King’s Day bingo, and bring the kids along for a disco and bingo of their own. All of this takes place around the cosy corners of Lili’s and Bistro le Petit Chef.
Hit the water!
Looking for something extra special this Kingsday? Hop aboard The Hague Boat. With this local gem, you can rent a private boat for your group while skipper Jan safely guides you through The Hague’s canals.
