Beach house Maví
The beach house was already there, but since the summer of 2024 we know Pier32 as Maví! A familiar place in a new guise. Couple Bram and Martine took over the tent very spontaneously. They already had hospitality experience with their lunchroom Blij op de Dunne Bierkade. After a two-year world trip (with two children!), they were not afraid of a challenge and seized the opportunity to take over this beach tent with both hands.
With a new name, a fresh interior with vibrant colors, everything looks young and fresh again. The two hard workers are at the beach tent themselves every day and have quickly gathered an enthusiastic team around them.
There is a compact menu with delicious dishes and snacks to share. That fits perfectly with the relaxed atmosphere on the beach. No huge plate of food on your lap, but enjoying snacks together. On the menu, you’ll now find, for example, a ‘hotdoctopus’ (a squid sandwich), noodle soup, and vegan scallops made from mushrooms. But also more common beach dishes like sandwiches, fries, and pizzas from the wood oven. All in all, fine simple dishes. And that also benefits the speed of service!
Cozy Bustle
Besides the food, the atmosphere at Maví is just as important and delightful. There’s a kind of organized chaos. Kids are happily jumping on the trampoline, and we can comfortably plop down in our swimsuits on a chair. It’s anything but a place to see and be seen. You can tell that everyone feels comfortable and relaxed.
Besides relaxing, you can also engage in some activities. Next to Maví, there’s a surf school (Surf Nature), and beach yoga is (almost) daily. Every Monday to Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 10 am, you can roll out your mat here or stand on one leg with your foot in the sand. Op het ietwat grijze Westeinde in Den Haag brengen Eloïse en Pauline, oprichters van Cross & Woods, een beetje kleur en warmte. Deze twee creatieve dames, met een enorme passie voor handwerk in allerlei vormen—breien, borduren, naaien en weven—bundelden hun krachten om een winkel te starten die creatievelingen samenbrengt.
In de winkel vind je een uitgebreid assortiment hoogwaardige materialen: wol, garen, patronen, stoffen en naalden. Perfect voor elk handwerkproject. Of je nu net begint of een doorgewinterde maker bent, Cross & Woods heeft alles om je volgende creatie te laten slagen!
En, Cross & Woods is meer dan een winkel: je kunt er ook terecht voor knutselavonden (craft nights) en tal van workshops. Elke eerste vrijdag van de maand vanaf 17 uur ben je welkom met je eigen knutselproject. Breng je project mee en ontmoet gelijkgestemden terwijl je samen je hobby (uit) oefent!
