Valentine’s Distillery
We’ve known for at least ten years that there are plenty of great places to discover close to home. And it turns out that the area around our office is full of hidden treasures too! At The New Farm, the creative hub on Televisiestraat where our Haagse Schatten office is also based, you’ll find countless creative and hardworking local entrepreneurs. We recently discovered another one: Valentijn of Valentine’s Distillery.
Family distillery
Not only is ‘family distillery’ a great word for a game of Hangman, it’s also a concept we can’t help but love. Since 2021, father Edwin and son Valentijn (the distillery’s namesake) have formed the team behind Valentine’s Distillery. Their spirits and liqueurs are crafted using herbs, flowers and plants sourced largely from the beautiful Meyendel nature reserve near The Hague. They also cultivate their own vineyard on fellow local treasure WIJdehorst, where they are working on what will eventually become a truly The Hague-made wine.
Everything is produced in-house: grown on their own land and crafted with care, passion and traditional expertise.
Visit the Distillery
Come and see, distil and, of course, taste at this The Hague-based distillery. One of the best ways to experience it is by joining a guided tour and tasting session. In 90 minutes, Valentijn and Edwin share their story and give you a behind-the-scenes look at how they create their spirits and liqueurs.
Prefer a more hands-on experience? During the gin workshop, you’ll dive into the world of gin, botanicals and craft distilling. Over the course of two hours, you’ll learn the basics of the trade and discover how flavours are built using natural, locally sourced ingredients.
