Starting Off Right
On Friday, October 25th, the autumn break kicks off perfectly with a Friday After-Work Drinks at Haags Hoog. Come enjoy Eiber beers, share some snacks, and hit the dance floor with (guaranteed!) the best view in The Hague.
Warmed up? Head over to the season finale of our surf friends at The Shore. Every year, their last party of the season is a massive beach celebration with a stellar line-up. Get your tickets here and party on into the late (or even early?) hours.
The first weekend of the autumn break is also the very, very last chance to visit some of our beach treasures. BLOW and De Kwartel are open until Sunday, October 27th. After that, we’ll have to miss them until spring. Luckily, Aloha is one of the few beach bars in Scheveningen that stays open 365 days a year. So, after your brisk beach walk, you can still cozy up with a hot chocolate and whipped cream!
Creative Autumn
During the autumn break, from Friday, October 25th to Saturday, November 2nd, The Hague will once again host the Festival de Betovering. This international arts festival is geared towards youth up to 25 years old, but there’s also plenty for parents, caregivers, or other curious visitors over 25. Highlights include awesome films and workshops at The Hague treasure, The Filmhuis.
We’re embracing creativity this autumn, with even more workshops on the agenda! At Flower Shop De Iris, you can finally craft a professional autumn centerpiece on October 26th from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM. Find more information here.
Our Sushimeisjes are also hosting a fun workshop, specifically for kids aged 7 to 12. During this workshop, they’ll learn step by step how to make a delicious sushi roll. The rolls will be judged by none other than the sushi chef of Sushimeisjes, and with a bit of luck, participants might even receive a sushi-rolling diploma! And how handy would it be to have your own sushi chef at home? 😉
Not in the mood to get hands-on, but just want to relax? Head over to The Hague treasure Vegane Glorie on Saturday, November 2nd for Indian Night, where chef Rob will be preparing vegan curry. Inspired by his travels through Nepal and India, this meal promises to be a delicious (and maybe a little spicy!) treat!
Fresh Air and Cozy Indoors
Isn’t it wonderful to keep heading outdoors in the autumn? But make sure you’re well-prepared, with the best autumn gear from Huna! Here you’ll find not only waterproof (hiking) shoes, but also rain jackets, cozy fleece sweaters, and so much more for all your big and small adventures.
Got your hiking outfit sorted? Then head out! We love to go walking in the Scheveningen Woods. Especially because afterward, we can settle down at Pompke for a nice cup of coffee (and a treat!). Or we take our coffee to go in the Haagse Schatten to go mug. Leakproof (yes, really, we’ve tested it!) and with a great thermos function, so your coffee stays warm throughout the walk.
After a walk like that, you can relax on the couch! And now that the days are getting shorter and darker, we need a little light. Even better if that light comes from a unique lamp, right? For that, we recommend you head to Weimarstraat, where two of our treasures sell some truly special lighting. Ysabel from Studio Limonada makes her own colorful lamps, and Joke from Sprinkelhop scours the city and beyond to find the best vintage lighting.
And with a new season comes a new look. Shop for those autumn pieces at one of our The Hague treasures. In a charming alley on Noordeinde, you’ll find Couqou. Enter at your own risk, because there’s a good chance you won’t leave empty-handed. At SWAPS, you can dress yourself from head to toe with a sustainable twist—everything here is swapped. Also sustainable are the second-hand designer items you’ll find at Achtung Lady.
This autumn break, settle down at all these treasures and don’t forget to bring your Haagse Schatten gift card. It also makes a perfect gift for a friend, colleague, uncle, or aunt from The Hague. Or give it to someone who deserves to explore our beautiful city! With your gift card, you’ll receive a Haagse treasure map, allowing the lucky recipient to discover the city and its hidden gems.
You can purchase it in our webshop or visit one of our The Hague treasures to buy the gift card in person. The best part is, every euro you spend on the card is guaranteed to support a local business in The Hague. There are now over sixty The Hague treasures where you can redeem your card. So, there’s something for everyone!
